I guess if you’re a so-called “sex offender,” you’re considered an imminent, ongoing and escalating national public safety liability. It is just like what happened when LA shut down the entire school district the other day with a mere bomb “threat.” A local official cited: “We can’t take chances with children’s lives.” The paranoia and fear is the only thing that is imminent, ongoing and escalating..
Exactly the same flawed and dangerous thinking is applied with sex offender. They are operating on the false assumption that knowing is containment. Sorry, but identification is not awareness and that does not equate to prevention. Nobody wants to risk their career on a segment of society that is this easy to marginalize. Officials simply don’t understand that the battle and war to protect and prevent bad things from happening to children is already lost in regards to the registry.
Once again irrational fear carries the day. Sad.
They are giving RCs very little chance at having a normal life again, and the RCs kids are being kick down with the rest of the families, When the RC breaks they (the system) will only have themselves to blame, no one can keep taking all that the system piles on. If the courts do not understand this is more punishment, then their is no real justice in America.
As the parent of a high school aged child, I’m already going through this very thing and have for many years. Fortunately, my kid has been very understanding and openly says these laws are ridiculous.
